Best Low Carb Diet

Every month there is a new best low carb diet or at least it would seem so. The best low carb diet is the one that fits your lifestyle and palate. If you are ready to lose weight, then the low carb diet plan is probably for you. With some minor or in some cases major changes in your diet, you can create your own best low card diet.

If you are hooked on processed foods and really don’t like to cook, you need to make some major changes. I am not saying that you have to learn to cook, but you do need to ditch the processed foods as much as possible. If you don’t like to cook, your local grocery deli can become your best friend. Most any deli has rotisserie chicken or turkey. They are delicious and nutritious and the perfect lean meats for your low carb diet. Of course, you will need to take the skin off either but they are still very tasty. The seafood section will steam shrimp or lobster for you so that you don’t even have to smell up the house cooking them. The more modern stores also have sushi. Be careful of the seafood salads as they are full of mayonnaise. You can also pick up a nice fish filet to bake in the oven. A few spices over the fish and you are ready for a quick cook.

If you like salads, you probably already know that there are myriads of pre-packed salads that are ready to eat. Choose a low carb salad dressing and your meal is complete. Another good idea for the non-cook is to buy vegetable trays. Be sure that you can specify what vegetable you want. Choose broccoli, celery, green peppers, cherry tomatoes, and carrots. Be sure to ask for a low carb dipping sauce or buy your own. Simply put this lovely, nutritious vegetable platter on the table and dinner is served.

Many people want dessert. Obviously, desserts are hard to come by in a low carb diet. Most low carb diet plans allow fruit which is a great accompaniment to a meal. You can make your own fruit tray or order one from the deli. Some suggestions are pineapple, apples, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, cantaloupe, and watermelon. If the fruit plate comes with a dipping sauce, get rid of it quick. It will be full of sugar. Fresh fruit really stands alone and doesn’t need any help with sauces or dips. If you must, you can add a little Splenda for sweetness. In season peaches and nectarines are also great choices.

Most low carb diets allow for nuts. They are very nutritious and have good fats. Almonds are always a perfect choice. Just make sure that the nuts have not been processed in extra oil. They should be dry roasted. Peanuts and cashews are also wonderful choices. Because nuts are really high in calories, you must limit your portions.

Any good diet, even a low carb one, must include whole grains in cereals and breads. Whole wheat breads are allowed in moderation and cereals are perfect way to start the day. Be careful when you buy these products and read the labels to make sure you are buying whole grains and not over-processed ones.

There is no best low carb diet. Do the research and take what fits you best. If not, you won’t last very long on the diet. It must incorporate your taste and lifestyle. Good luck; you just might even write your own diet book one day.
