Fast Weight Loss with Low Carb Diet

Many people experience fast weight loss with low carb diets. Any time you restrict yourself to mostly protein and very low carb vegetables, your calorie intake will more than likely be less than you are expending. That means calories loss. Especially in the beginning, the scale will really start to move the way you want it to. Because eating low carbs, excluding fruits, protein bars, breads and cereals, you will lose a lot of water weight. Carbs tend to make he body retain water; therefore, when you don’t eat many carbs, your body gets rid of the excess water. The fast initial weight loss really makes the dieter feel better about dieting.
Now staying on these very restrictive diets is rather difficult. Generally, after this prohibitive low carb initial phase, you are allowed to eat more carbs such as fruits, whole grain breads and cereals. The protein bars are also allowed at this phase. Some low fat milk products are also allowed. You have to eat these carbs in moderation. After you start eating more carbs, you might see the scale go a little higher with water weight, but after a while this goes away. You are still eating few calories than you are expending. Hence your weight will go down just more slowly. You might get a little depressed and want to go back to phase one but give phase two a chance. Eating a diet that is too restrictive generally makes you miserable after awhile and you go off the food wagon.
Adding exercise to your low carb diet will certainly help with weight loss. Walking is something most anyone can use as exercise. If you start slow, you can create an exercise plan. Overcoming inertia is the hardest part. Sitting in a chair mindlessly watching television is much easier than getting up for a walk around the neighborhood. If you have a dog, he will love you forever for taking him for a walk. If you have a friend or family member who walks, ask if you can join in the fun. Having a partner makes walking much more fun. Also, if you have a friend who is expecting you, it’s harder to say no. If you can’t go for a walk, get one of the exercise DVDs that are available everywhere. Get moving and you will see fast weight loss with low carb diet plans. Without exercise you will more than likely still lose weight, just more slowly.
A friend of mine described her low carb diet as if it tastes good, spit it out. Low carb eating doesn’t have to be boring or tasteless. Experiment with your low carb vegetables. Mix several together with a non fat Ranch dressing. For instance, add onions, sliced tomatoes, broccoli, and cauliflower together. Use very little non fat Ranch dressing so you keep the calorie count down. Serve this salad cold. It will last for several days and is very tasty. You will be surprised.
Fruits can be made into great salads too. Add chopped apples, lemon juice, raisins, grapes, and a little light mayo. This salad is truly wonderful when served cold. It lasts several days and will keep you from having to cut fruit every night.
If you stay on your low carb diet or lifestyle for long enough, you will acclimate and wonder why you ever ate all of those very bad for you carbs. You may hit a plateau or two but the weight will come off. Just keep trying to make the diet fit your lifestyle and taste. Then you won’t be so ready to cheat. If you do cheat, get back on the low carb lifestyle as soon as you can. I’m not saying the road won’t be rocky, but the road to weight loss isn’t supposed to be. Trust me; it’s worth the initial sacrifice.
