Low Carb Diet to Lose Weight

Everyone knows who has ever dieted that if more calories are used that eaten, weight loss will ensue. Therefore, consuming low carb, low calorie foods will result in weight loss. Add exercise and you will lose even more weight. As much as possible, avoid processed foods and eat only the freshest fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and seafood. A low carb diet that is too restrictive with carbs may help with weight loss in the beginning but few if any people can stay with the restrictions forever. A good low carb diet can become a lifestyle; therefore, you will lose weight and keep it off.
When many people think of vegetables, they think of French fries, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and fried anything. You get the picture. These vegetable are not on a low carb diet to lose weight. Think green; live green; eat green; learn to love green. Green vegetables may be eaten in large quantities without sabotaging your diet. They also add much needed fiber and nutrition. Yes, all those foods your mother tried to make you eat are the ones that are on most low carb diets.
If you think green and make a lovely green salad with broccoli, green onions, spinach, romaine lettuce and some colorful vegetables like red bell peppers and tomatoes, you are well on you way to a low carb diet to lose weight. You can also serve some of the vegetables steamed or raw. Salad dressing is your worst nightmare. Add too much and you might as well be eating fried chicken and fries. Making your own low carb salad dressing will save you lots of calories. Add some fresh spices and herbs will make the dressing taste fabulous.
Meats and seafood should be eaten in moderation. A rule of thumb is not to eat meats that are larger than your palm. Let that be your guide. Baked, broiled or grilled without butter are perfect preparation techniques. Frying is not a good idea.
When you buy whole grain cereals and breads, be careful that you actually buy the healthy ones, Even if the package claims to have multiple grains, make sure that you are buying only whole grains. The best plan is to buy foods with as much fiber as possible.
Even if you don’t think you like fruit, make the effort, Pineapple, watermelon, pears, apples, blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries are delicious and nutritious. Adding them in moderation will keep you satisfied so that you won’t be temped to stop your diet.
In a low carb diet, moderation is everything. Eat fresh fruits, vegetables, lean meats and seafoods in moderation and you will lose weight. Remember: the more you exercise, the more you can eat healthy foods. After a few weeks, your cravings for bad processed sugary foods in no time will go away. Then you will be happily on your way to losing weight.
