Low Fat Low Carb Diet

Many low carb diets allow plenty of fat whether they are good fats or not. For many dieters who want to follow a more healthy diet or cannot tolerate saturate fats, they need a low fat low carb diet. Actually, a low fat low carb diet is quite simple to follow.
Most any low carb diet allows fresh fruits and vegetables. Some low carb diets do not allow many fruits but a low fat low carb diet relies on eating both fruits and low glycemic vegetables. If you want to stay very low fat, try the new raw diet. Most vegetables are eaten raw without salad dressings or dips. It may take a while to get used to the raw veggie diet, but after a while you will learn to love the veggies for their own unique taste. If you can’t get past the dry vegetables, find or create a very low fat option for your taste buds. Make sure that the low fat dressing isn’t made with lots of sugar to make up for the lack of fats.
When choosing vegetables, always go for the green. You can’t go wrong with a fresh green vegetable. Salads with dark green lettuce, broccoli, onions, and any other green vegetable you like are always great low carb diet foods. You can also gorge on asparagus, green beans, and celery. If you must cook your veggies, steam them so that you won’t have to add any oil for flavoring.
Fruits obviously don’t need fats. You just need to learn to love them without sugar or other high calorie options. Fresh fruits have their own flavors and will add the great taste that is often missing in a diet plate. You can’t eat all of the fruits that you want but a variety makes for an interesting salad.
Many of the high fat low carb diets allow all the meat you can possibly eat. In a low fat low carb diet, you should stick with lean proteins such as chicken, fish, shrimp, scallops, or pork. Lean cuts of beef are also ok in moderation. In order to stay low fat, you should cook these meats by grilling them with spices or broiling them also with spices. These cooking methods do not require fat and the spices add flavor. If you must sauté in oil, use olive or Enova oil which is fairly new. Frying is not an option. If you have a George Foreman grill, by all means use it because any fats in the meats drain off. Although meats are fine on a low fat low carb diet, your portion should always be about the size of the palm of your hand. Let that be your guide unless you want to weigh everything. In that case, your protein should be between four to six ounces.
Obviously, everyone wants a snack every once and a while. There are many low fat and low carb snacks on the market. Check to make sure that they do not contain too much fat or the wrong kinds of fat. Generally, the South Beach Diet bars are ok because they are specifically made for low carb dieters who don’t want the high fat either. Just like the low fat cookies of a decade ago, you can eat these until you completely sabotage your diet. One bar in your briefcase is a much better idea than a box in the desk. Never allow yourself to over eat the snacks. If you can’t handle them, don’t buy them until you have complete control. Yes, they are that good. There are plenty more on the market, I am just more familiar with these. Zone bars are also very good. Be careful if your bars have a lot of sugar alcohol because you might experience stomach upsets.
A low fat low carb diet is very simple. Just eat the way you know you should. Eat those fruits, vegetables, and lean meats that your mother always told you to eat. They are always right you know.
